Character

Elder Scott continues to be my favorite (ever since stake conference when I was 14...). Today, he talked about truth. All of his scientific gobbledygook aside, it was a fantastic talk.
(You can judge someone's character by how they treat those they don't have to be nice to.)

The process of identifying truths sometimes necessitates profound effort.
This effort builds righteous character.
Character is more important than possessions, knowledge, or goals you've achieved.
Character allows you to be trusted. You will be able to make difficult decisions.
Nothing can destroy your growing righteous character, not even Satan.
Only disobedience can destroy your character.
Elder Hilbig: Do not quench the Spirit through disobedience and neglect. Draw near to God by following His commandments with exactness.
Bro. Bott told a sister missionary that she didn't have the Spirit and therefore was unable to teach because she didn't bathe regularly or use deodorant, both of which were mission rules. That's how important it is to be obedient in all things.

And Bro. Bott only speaks truth. My hometeachers were pretty impressed with all I've learned from him in my first temple prep lesson this evening. Now if my stake president would just call...
It's amazing how answers to prayers are just what you need, and even sometimes just what you want, but they often work out completely opposite from how you imagined it. I'm glad to not be able to see the end from the beginning.
Good weekend. Surprise visit from an EFY friend. Three hours is good. Shared experiences healing the wound of individual existence and all that.
And now, to be serenaded to sleep by the anonymous Campus Plaza guitarist and his soulful renditions of Pink Floyd.

We're just two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl...
